EASTERN is our Family

In 1984, John DeRose took steps to incorporate the Eastern Airlines Retirees Association. He WAS  MR. EARA.

He began the "Keeping in Touch" newsletter which made it's debut in 1985. Never married, Eastern was his life.

Today we have more than 8500 members.

Sadly, John passed away in 1996. We will forever be grateful for his dedication to our continuing organization.

EARA continues growing. With growth comes benefits to former employees. If you haven't yet joined our ranks, please join us now. We have an application form available online. You may also call our offices in Miami 305-884-6132.

Our retired membership enjoys airline discounts, car rental discounts, and interline vacation privileges. We help you "Keep in Touch" with our monthly newspaper filled with opportunities for travel and enjoyment.

I was a F/A way back in 1946/47,  and went back in 1970 as a Silverliner Volunteer, working anywhere they needed help.  That included JFK,  LGA, 10 Rockefeller Plaza,  and on occasion over at EWR.  I was with them until EAL closed it's doors in 1991.

I learned of  EARA in 1992.  John DeRose was still Pres.  and when I joined and became an Adv. Bd. Member, he asked me if I would like to write a column for the Newspaper, about Silverliners, Intl, and other Flight Attendants.  I immediately said YES!!!!!!  and he named it SEATPOCKETS.   Because I think it is a very worthy organization,  I also write a column about EARA for the Silverliner Newsletter, called EARA EARS.  It gives an update on what is going on in EARA in the various cities, and the major events in the MIA office.

years ago....I started a Newsletter, on the Internet,  about happenings with some Eastern Airlines folks....the news got  around on the Internet...It built up to a substantial following....

It got the attention of John DeRose He and I got together and passed information back and forth...until one day....someone wrote me and threatened to sue me if I wouldn't print his copy in my newsletter...My lawyer advised me to cease and desist all activity...which I did...altho the EARA Board backed me up all the way...

I served on the Board of Advisors to the EARA for some months until the constant travel became bothersome. So,   I resigned...altho I've kept up with the Board and its activities..and still do to this day....

I built Curtiss-Wright 3350 turbo compound and Pratt and Whitney 2800 'big round engines' for many years in Miami...and retired in 1978 before the company went down...I love Eastern Airlines and those years were the best of my life.....I  moved to Boynton Beach...and am here today... John D founded the EARA as most know and he started the 'official' newsletter as well...I wish he were here today...He was a prince of a man..

Ed Bowley, Eastern Airlines...Retired Edlbee@aol.com

I became an EARA member in the mid 1990's. I have been
able to reconnect with many Eastern people from the 50's
and 60's that I knewwhen my father was stationed in DCA and
JFK. Being able to communicate with them and remembering
the great times that were had by all at picnics and parties is great.
EARA has also made it possible for me to reconnect with many of the Eastern Family I worked with during my employment. I enjoy writing articles which recap those wonderful years and getting
requests from people about Aircraft, Uniforms, Service, Projects,
People, Items & Mishaps. EARA and the "Keeping In Touch" newspaper makes it possible for the Eastern Family to stay "In Touch" and to keep up with projects, Special Air Fare Discounts, and Special Travel Packages.

Keep up the great work EARA.

I heard about EARA from Ed Bowley. I had started a small website that I called 'Eastern Alley' and Ed began sending me info about EAL. He had the best screensavers I'd ever seen. Our beautiful aircraft in a slide show. Used it for years on the old Windows 3.1 system. I joined EARA and loved the newspaper. After several years I let my membership lapse and really missed being 'in touch'. I was fortunate enough to be contacted by EARA years later, asking me to redesign their website. I eagerly re-joined EARA. I've never looked back. Not only is it wonderful to be able to stay abreast of others we used to know and work with, but EARA works diligently to procure pass privilidges and discounts for us. Considering we have been out of business for more than a decade, that can't be an easy task.

Our Airline has not been forgotten. Our credit union still offers benefits to all of us. We still get flight passes from many airlines and discounts with dental, medical and car rentals. This is due to the clout of EARA.

Come Join US. You'll be glad you did.
